Call Us Now (303) 355-4223Upholstery services in Wash Park usually mean furniture that has outlived a few owners. The Denver squares and brick bungalows on these blocks were built long before open floor plans, and a sofa that fits a narrow front room is hard to replace. Cherry Creek Shade & Drapery has been in business since 1968, and recovering pieces like that is part of what we do.
The company started with Betty and Dick Hess making roller shades. Their daughter Bonnie and her husband Doug Kershner later added bedding, upholstery and other soft goods. Our showroom at 2438 East 6th Avenue is a quick drive north of the park.
Sofa Reupholstery for Narrow Wash Park Living Rooms
Front doors in a lot of older Wash Park houses open straight into the living room, and some of those doorways are tight. Anyone who has tried to get a new sofa around that corner knows how it goes. Sofa reupholstery skips the problem: the piece already fits. We rebuild padding, springs, and webbing as needed, then recover it in something that suits the room now.
Chair reupholstery is the other regular job. Dining chairs in a Denver square get dragged across hardwood floors for decades, and the seats wear through long before the frames do. Recovering a set is one of the simplest upholstery projects we take on, and residential upholstery like this is where most families start.
Pet-Friendly Fabric Upholstery Services for Wash Park Households
Walk the loop past Smith Lake and Grasmere Lake on a Saturday morning and count the dogs. Most of them go home and climb on the couch. That shapes couch upholstery services here more than anything: tight weaves and performance fabrics that clean up easily and resist snags.
See the fabrics we carry at the showroom, or have a designer bring swatches to your house for a free design consultation at home. Feeling a fabric next to your floors and walls beats picking from a screen.
Upholstered Headboards and Benches Matched to Wash Park Bedrooms
Custom upholstery is not only sofas. Upholstered headboards, a bench at the foot of the bed, an ottoman for the reading corner. We craft upholstery, bedding, and pillows from the same premium fabrics used in our drapery work, so a bungalow bedroom can come together in one fabric story.
Our Wash Park drapery uses the same bolts, and the right rods and drapery hardware finish the window.
Keeping Recovered Furniture From Fading in Wash Park Front Rooms
Older Wash Park houses have big front windows, and the ones without a deep porch roof take the full sun. Pair new fabric with the right blinds and shades so the sofa arm nearest the glass does not fade a shade lighter than the rest.
Shop and café owners along Old South Gaylord Street can call about commercial upholstery services for their benches and seating, too.
A Family Upholstery Business Wash Park Has Known Since 1968
Same family for more than fifty years. Betty and Dick Hess started it, Bonnie and Doug Kershner run it, and customers still ask whether it is family owned. It is. Our upholstery services in Wash Park come from a local upholstery shop with the same name on the door all that time, and people who pick up the phone when you call about your piece.
A search for upholstery services near me pulls up workrooms all over the metro. Before you hand over a sofa, ask how long the shop has been in business and whether it carries insurance while your furniture is out of the house. Custom furniture reupholstery is a big job to trust to anyone without good answers to both.
Upholstery Across Wash Park, Platt Park, Bonnie Brae and Belcaro
Our upholstery services in Wash Park reach the neighborhoods around the park. Platt Park and the shops on South Pearl sit just southwest. Bonnie Brae and Belcaro are just east across University Boulevard, and Belcaro upholstery runs the same way. The University of Denver neighborhood is a few minutes south.
North of Alameda, Cherry Creek upholstery work comes out of the same showroom. Searching furniture upholstery near me from anywhere around the park? We are a short drive away, and a designer will come to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do upholstery services in Wash Park cost?
Cost depends on the piece, the fabric and how much rebuilding the inside needs, so we price each job after seeing it. A free consultation or a photo brought to the showroom gets you a real estimate.
Will a reupholstered sofa still fit through my Wash Park front door?
If it came in that way, it will go back out and in again. Reupholstery keeps the original frame, so the size barely changes.
What upholstery fabric holds up to dogs and kids?
Tight weaves and performance fabrics are the usual answer. They resist snags, shed less hair and clean up well. A designer can bring samples so you can test them in your own room.
Can you fix a cracked leather chair?
Leather upholstery repair depends on how far the cracking goes. Some hides can be restored, and some pieces are better recovered. Bring a photo and we will tell you which.
Can I bring in my own fabric?
Yes. Bring in a fabric you already love, or choose from our in-house selection with a designer's help.
How long will I be without my furniture?
Most projects take 2 to 10 weeks, depending on the piece, the fabric and the repairs inside. We give you a timeline once we have seen it.
Can an upholstered headboard match my drapery?
Yes. We make upholstery, bedding, pillows and drapery from the same fabrics, so a bedroom can be planned around one selection.
Do you offer consultations in Wash Park?
Yes. A designer will come to your Wash Park home for a free consultation. Or visit the showroom at 2438 East 6th Avenue, Monday through Friday 9 to 5 or Saturday 10 to 3.
